Seattle-area startups PDM Automotive and Tribute took home $132,500 each at the 17th Seattle Angel Conference event — and the first to be held virtually.

PDM Automotive is a 3-year-old company that runs an automotive product data platform for manufacturers and receivers. The startup spun out of Velocity Automotive, an e-commerce leader in Europe for U.S. auto parts. PDM is led by founders Johannes Crepon and Philipp Crepon.

Tribute launched in 2018 and is a mentorship app that aims to be “the Bumble of corporate mentorship.” It sells B2B subscriptions ranging from $50,000 to $500,000. The company is led by founder and CEO Sarah Haggard, a social scientist turned tech-product marketer who was at Microsoft for more than a decade.

Seattle Angel Conference organizers ran the five-month program virtually via Zoom since March, holding pitch sessions, reviews, and due diligence by investors on video. There were 53 companies that applied to the most recent event, with 44 investors participating.
