How to perform a factory data reset on Moto G7
Method 1: Settings
The first method is through Settings and all you need to do is follow the steps listed below:
- Go to Settings
- Tap System
- Tap Reset options
- Next, tap Erase all data
- Tap Reset phone.
The phone will reboot. Once completed, follow the on-screen guides to set it up as a new device.
Method 2: Using the physical buttons
This method is handy when you can’t access the Settings menu for some reason. Here is how to do it:
- Turn the phone off. Press and hold the Power button and tap the Power off option once it shows up
- Press the Power button and the Volume Down button at the same time
- Keep holding the buttons until the phone turns on
- Use the Volume down button to highlight “Recovery mode”
- Press the Power button to confirm
- When the phone enters Recovery mode, use the Volume buttons to navigate to the "wipe data/factory reset" option
- Use the Power button to confirm
- Again, with the Volume buttons highlight the option Factory data reset
- Use the Power button to confirm
- Let the phone complete the task
- Once it is done, highlight the "Reboot system now" using the Volume buttons
- Use the Power button to confirm.
