Top 3 Takeaways From Microsoft Inspire 2018

A couple weeks ago, I attended my first Microsoft Inspire event. There is only one word to describe my Inspire experience, which took place in Las Vegas in late July, and that is hot! It was very, very hot.

Microsoft 2018 Corenote sessions were held at the T-Mobile Arena. It was easily 109 degrees as we stood in line each morning.

While temperatures outside were scorching, the conversations, thought-provoking keynotes and sessions kept things chill inside. Inspire 2018 definitely lived up to its name.

Here are some key takeaways that have us inspired about the future of our Microsoft partnership:

First is Intelligent Cloud and Intelligent Edge. As Judson Althoff, Microsoft Executive Vice President of Worldwide Commercial Business, stated during his keynote session:

“Make no mistake, the Intelligent Cloud and Intelligent Edge is real. It’s here, and it’s now.”

Indeed, Microsoft’s “new wave” of computing combines the power of data collection in the Intelligent Cloud with reasoning computation at the Intelligent Edge, and provides real-world AI capabilities in real-time. This means companies can now make business-critical decisions, improve processes, and create customer experiences seamlessly, like never before.

We’ll explore more on this “new wave” of compute in the days and weeks ahead. For now, let’s “hang ten” to our next key takeaway – the surge of Dynamics 365.

With 65% growth in fiscal 2018 and more than $2B in investments over two decades, Microsoft was justifiably bullish on the opportunities involving Dynamics 365. It’s little wonder if you also consider Dynamics was named a clear leader in CRM solutions by The Forrester Wave™: Sales Force Automation Solutions, Q2 2017 report.

With tools for customer service, talent management, sales, finance, marketing and more, Dynamics 365 offers end-to-end applications to unify data and relationships, build intelligence into decision-making, to achieve improved results. Lastly, Microsoft’s biggest bet for their fiscal 2019 is clearly on the power of Azure. With a 93% growth rate, incredible scalability (54 data center regions) and speed-to-market (data centers provisioned in 90 days), Azure is not your traditional data center.

Microsoft’s Project Natick, a bold endeavor to develop and submerge self-sufficient data centers under the sea, testing their ability to deliver cloud services to coastal cities around the world is further evidence.

As Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella shared during his encore Inspire keynote:

“Azure [offers] that one, ubiquitous, distributed computing fabric, that one programming model that is…the biggest, unique thing that this ecosytem has [today]. Every use case out there is going to be powered by this.”

So, we’d love to know, which of these key takeaways has you inspired today? Feel free to share in the comments below.
