Video: Inefficient Data Center Design

In this video, Chris Crosby, CEO, Compass Data Centers, challenges common data center assumptions about what green design and efficiency means in the industry.

Chris Crosby, CEO, Compass Data Centers, speaking at The Uptime Institute conference in May challenges common assumptions about what green data center design and efficiency means in the industry. In this 25-minute-long video, Crosby says that it is a myth that scale is needed to drive out cost, that one must consider the use of natural resources and materials as well as economics, that cooling doesn't need to be adapted for different locations, and more. He emphasizes the "green washing" that happens in the industry, in effect, looking at one element and not others. For example, he notes it's not really green to clear cut a forest to put up a solar array. This and more challenging commentary from this data center executive.
