Arlington, Wash.-based Eviation Aircraft added to its multibillion-dollar order book with a letter of intent from Mexico-based Aerus to purchase 30 of its all-electric Alice airplanes. Aerus is scheduled to start regional service later this year, with Monterrey as its regional hub, but it will have to wait several years for Eviation’s nine-passenger commuter planes to be delivered.
An Alice prototype had its first flight test last September in Moses Lake, Wash., and the production version of the plane is expected to hit the market by 2027. In November, Eviation reported that it has attracted more than $2 billion in orders. Among the companies making commitments are Cape Air, Global Crossing, Evia Aero, DHL Express, Air New Zealand and Australia’s Northern Territory Air Services.
