  • Apple has launched a new update to cut down the amount of radiation emitted by iPhone 12 devices.
  • The update has been submitted to the Agence Nationale des Frequences (ANFR) following the ban on the sales of the iPhone 12 in the country.

Apple has launched a new update for the iPhone 12 designed to cut down radiation emissions from the devices. The update came soon after French regulators decided to ban the sale of iPhone 12 devices in the country for exceeding the limits of legal radiation exposure.

The ban came at a bad time for the company as Apple has just launched the iPhone 15 series. Without the update, the iPhone 12 ban was expected to continue indefinitely, potentially putting the iPhone 15 series in the crosshairs of regulators.

Apple initially contested the findings of French regulators, stating that the iPhone 12 was certified by several international organizations. However, it later announced that it would release a software update to meet the requirements of French testing methods.

The new update has been submitted to the Agence Nationale des Fréquences (ANFR), the national frequency agency of France. Following the French regulators’ findings, other EU countries have asked for the software update in their regions.

French regulators are expected to conduct safety tests once again with the new updates, after which a decision will be taken on allowing iPhone 12 sales to resume and minimize the threat of recalling the devices across the country.
