X Combats Misinformation and Unveils New Subscription Plans
The X premium tier subscriptions will replace Twitter Blue accounts.
- X has unveiled two new tiers of subscription plans in an effort to drive up its revenue. This includes a Basic and a Premium+ subscription plan.
- Elon Musk has also announced a policy change making posts containing misinformation ineligible for revenue sharing on the platform.
X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter, is introducing new subscription plans that will allow account holders to pay more to gain a better reach for replies. The new plans include a $16/month Premium+ subscription and a $3/month Basic plan.
The Premium+ plan not only offers posts a boost, but it also eliminates advertisements and gives access to the revenue-sharing model and other tools for content creators. On the other hand, the Basic plan does not come with the above features in addition to the blue checkmark. It offers a smaller boost to posts as compared to the premium subscriptions. Users will be able to choose these plans in addition to the standard subscription, which comes for $8.
The new plans are expected to help X generate new revenue streams, a critical requirement for the company that has been bleeding revenue ever since Elon Musk took the reins in 2022.

In addition to the new subscription plans, Elon Musk has announced changes that will make posts containing misinformation to become ineligible for revenue sharing. According to his post, any X post that will be corrected by Community Notes, which is the platform’s crowd-sourced fact-checking system, will not be able to make any money for their accounts.
The announcement is expected to cut out sensationalist posts on the platform and is hoped to improve accuracy. This post especially gains importance when it comes to the growing misinformation coming out about the Israel-Hamas conflict.
