Glassdoor has recently launched new and advanced filters for its Company Explorer tool. The filters allow job seekers to search for companies by workplace factor ratings and ratings by demographic groups. Read in detail about the advanced filters in this article.

Glassdoor, one of the popular portals providing insights on jobs and companies worldwide, announced the launch of advanced filters for the platform’s Company Explorer. Company ExplorerOpens a new window is a tool that helps job seekers and employees find companies based on company size, location, industry, overall ratings, and more.

With the advanced filters, people can search for jobs and companies by workplace factor ratings and overall ratings by employee demographic groups. The two types of searches are explained in detail below.

Helping Job Seekers Expand Company Search in Two Core Areas

The advanced filters help employees and candidates expand their company searches in two primary areas:

  • By workplace factor ratings: Employees and job seekers can now search for companies using ratings, such as overall rating, culture and values, work-life balance, compensation and benefits, diversity and inclusion, career opportunities, and senior management. These filters are currently available in the U.S. as well as across the 23 global domains.
  • By employee demographic ratings: People can also find companies based on overall ratings from demographic groups, including gender identity, race/ethnicity, parent or family giver, sexual orientation, people with disabilities, and veterans. These filters are currently available only in the U.S.

When job seekers apply these filters, they can find organizations closely matching their search criteria. For example, if a person applies a “veteran” filter, the results will show organizations highly rated by veterans who have worked in the companies and have a good number of openings on the platform.

The Key Driver Behind the New Filters

A recent Glassdoor survey conducted by Harris Poll showed that 43% of employees in the U.S. have either experienced or witnessed discrimination at work. About 30% also said their current organization does not match their values. Further, when employees look for a job or company, 36% of them aged 18-44 say DE&I policies are a crucial factor. The new filters are introduced at a time when 35% of employees think it is challenging to find a company matching their values. These new filters are expected to help candidates find companies that align with their experiences and values.

Christian Sutherland-Wong, chief executive officer, Glassdoor, saidOpens a new window , “We know that each individual job seeker has different values driving their job search, from healthier work/life balance to career growth, to being able to compare ratings of different employee demographic groups. The new advanced filters for Company Explorer aim to make it easier for people to uncover companies that align with their unique values and experiences, and can help them make even more informed decisions about where to work.”

According to Glassdoor, the advanced filtering capabilities help employees and job seekers search for organizations based on the massive number of insights publicly available on the platform.
