Peak Performance: Continuous Testing & Evaluation of LLM-Based Applications

Speaker: Aarushi Kansal, AI Leader & Author and Tony Karrer, Founder & CTO at Aggregage

Software leaders who are building applications based on Large Language Models (LLMs) often find it a challenge to achieve reliability. Make up your own mind about autism

I'm not lost, I'm wondering

Every now and then when I’m out with friends, or introducing myself to someone new, the topic of conversation winds its way around to autism. Sometimes the person knows someone who has an autistic child/niece/nephew/etc, or maybe they have an autistic child themselves. Since I am the parent of an autistic son they ask me to help them understand autism, and their autistic relative, a little bit better.

Is this overload? 9.57 zettabytes of information flows in the world’s enterprises

Trends in the Living Networks

A recent report titled How Much Information? 2010 Enterprise Server Information written by several UC – San Diego academics says that in 2008 the world’s servers processed 9.57 zettabytes (zettabyte = 10 to the power of 21), or 9,570,000,000,000,000,000,000 bytes. A couple of analogies from Physorg illustrate these amounts: * 9.57 zettabytes is equivalent of a 5.6-billion-mile-high stack of books from Earth to Neptune and back to Earth, repeated about 20 times a year. * By 2024 the w

Lead – don’t manage – your (autistic) kids

I'm not lost, I'm wondering

Autonomy - Mastery - Purpose. Aimed at adults who have already heard the starting gun, these are three things that Malcolm Gladwell ( Outliers ) and Dan Pink ( Drive ) have written about in terms of meaningful work and a meaningful life. These are also incredibly important parts of growing up. As infants and toddlers, the focus for kids is to learn, to master things like walking, language, and play.

The multichannel challenge

Leveraging Organizational Knowledge

I have not written on this blog since July 2010. It is not that I was struggling to find topics, but more a lack of time: my current interim contract with Matches Fashion and the adoption of an adorable child finally becoming a reality just took their toll on my spare time. In the April 1 st edition of Retail Week, I read an interesting supplement with same title as this post (in the print version) that motivated me to start blogging again.

Perseveration, or perseverance? Obsession, or passion?

I'm not lost, I'm wondering

The distinction between “ perseverate &# and “ persevere &# is one that I have often wondered about. What I’ve come up with, in a nutshell, is this: perseverate is bad, keeping at something for no real purpose. persevere is good, keeping at something in pursuit of a meaningful goal. Another way to look at it is that someone who perseverates is acting on an obsession , while someone who perseveres is pursuing a passion.

Don’t let autism stop you from being a parent

I'm not lost, I'm wondering

Autism blogger Lisa Jo Rudy once challenged parents to “quit autism for just one day.”. Your child with autism may always be autistic, but there are places and circumstances in which it either doesn’t matter – or in which your child’s special talents make autism irrelevant. Whether it’s at the beach, in the woods, at a concert, or creating a work of art – just for one day – go somewhere where autism doesn’t matter.

Take the time to learn from your kids

I have had a lot of teachers throughout my life. Some taught me because they were paid to, some because they were supposed to, and some because they wanted to. Many of the best teachers in my life, though, had no idea that they were teaching me. (Or, perhaps more accurately, that I was learning from them.). At the top of this list of unintentional teachers are kids, especially my own.

Parenting is a journey, not a destination

I'm not lost, I'm wondering

Sometimes our kids surprise us. We try and try and try to get them to do something, understand something, say something. They go for a long time, apparently ignoring (avoiding?) all of our best attempts. Then, all of a sudden, when we aren’t really looking (or when we’ve kind of given up), they do it, understand it, say it. At those moments we feel good, not just for our kids and their accomplishments but for ourselves.

Enjoying the scenery on your autism detour

I'm not lost, I'm wondering

If parenting is indeed a journey (as I wrote yesterday ), parenting an autistic child is a detour from the path that a parent’s journey normally takes. Several years ago I heard the following (I wish I could remember the source): A truly happy person enjoys the scenery on a detour. Would I have chosen this detour at the beginning of the journey, if I’d been given the option?
