Microsoft announced the rollout of an early access program for its Security Copilot, a security analysis tool driven by generative AI. The program will be available only to limited enterprise users. Microsoft Security Copilot is an assistant for cybersecurity professionals powered by GPT-4 and Microsoft’s security-specific LLM.
Supported by technology similar to that of ChatGPT, the copilot will be able to cover several tasks, including generating incident reports and real-time threat responses through Microsoft’s 365 Defender. In addition, security administrators can use the service to discover new cyber threats and analyze their organization’s security requirements through simple natural language queries.
Microsoft has also announced that it would provide its Microsoft Defender Threat Intelligence Service and API for free to its Security Copilot customers. Businesses can sign up to be considered for the Early Access Program, accessing features such as advanced analytics, device management, mobile application management, privilege management, and remote support.

The Security Copilot is Microsoft’s latest effort towards its AI endeavors, following the release of the Microsoft 365 Copilot. In addition, the Microsoft-owned GitHub is also developing its own copilot to help with code generation for developers.
So far, Microsoft has not declared details about pricing or a deadline for when the Security Copilot will be released for a broader customer base. Organizations have to get in touch with Microsoft sales representatives for details on the eligibility of gaining access to the early access program.
