A new Washington state app for recreation opportunities and trails will debut this spring, the state’s tourism organization announced Wednesday. State of Washington Tourism is developing the app in partnership with Seattle-based company Dharma Maps and TREAD (Trails, Recreation, Advocacy, and Development), a Wenatchee, Wash.-based group that brings together outdoor recreationalists with a commitment to “trails for all.” The TREAD Map App is currently available as a pilot in a region of central Washington and will offer features including trail maps, safety alerts, weather information and alternate suggestions to crowded trailheads.
