Virtual machines and virtualization software pioneer VMware is set to host its annual event next week. VMware Explore should be a special one, given the company’s acquisition by Broadcom received provisional approval from the U.K’s Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) and the European Commission almost a month ago.

While Broadcom’s $69 billion deal to acquire VMware is conditional upon several commitments, it is still a big win for the two companies, especially as VMware readies itself to move beyond multi-cloud to the supercloud.

VMware Explore 2023 is the second edition of the cloud conference since it was rebranded as such last year. However, its history goes back 19 years when the first VMworld was held in 2004. Thousands of attendees throng to the venue for new announcements, a peek into the future of cloud computing, expositions, and of course, meeting peers working across the world.

VMware Explore 2023 is a four-day conference from Monday, August 21, to Thursday, August 24, 2023. The conference precedes the Barcelona edition of VMware Explore 2023, scheduled for Monday, November 6 – 9, 2023.

Learning tracks

VMware Explore 2023 will feature five learning tracks, viz.,

1. Cloud & Edge Infrastructure

This track will include sessions on private, public, hybrid, telco, and edge cloud application requirements for multi-cloud solutions from VMware.

2. Modern Applications & Cloud Management

This track focuses on improving the time to production for cloud-native applications, security posture, and Kubernetes operations automation.

3. Networking & Security

In this track, speakers will take on the adoption of the cloud operating model to create application experiences in a unified manner with consistent networking and security.

4. Hybrid Workforce

VMware will explore how clients can enable their employees to be productive from anywhere (not just their homes) in the hybrid work era with more secure, frictionless access to enterprise apps from any device.

5. Vision & Innovation

Any conference or major development in 2023 is incomplete without advanced technologies and emergent trends, such as generative AI and machine learning. That’s what the Vision & Innovation track is all about.

Spring enthusiasts and professional Java developers will link up with VMware Explore attendees this year since SpringOne 2023 is being held concurrently with the cloud event. The developer-focused event based on Spring, the open-source framework, will be conducted over four days, starting with the keynote on August 21.

Expect experts to talk about the relevance of Spring in the development of enterprise Java applications, web applications, serverless, microservices, etc. Moreover, its fusion with VMware Explore 2023 also means a greater focus on cloud-native Java development, multi-cloud connections, and scalability of applications.
