Microsoft has acquired Fungible, a 6-year-old startup that helps companies with data center storage and networking needs.
“The Fungible team will join Microsoft’s datacenter infrastructure engineering teams and will focus on delivering multiple [data processing unit] solutions, network innovation and hardware systems advancements,” Microsoft said in a blog post.
Fungible, based in Silicon Valley, raised a $200 million Series C round led by SoftBank in 2019 and cut its workforce in August. The company was founded by former Apple engineering leader Bertrand Serlet and CEO Pradeep Sindhu, who co-founded Juniper Networks.
Earlier reports pegged the deal at $190 million.
