If you’re looking for an affordable laptop alternative, Chromebooks are a great option to consider. Yet there are several kinds on the market these days, and it can be overwhelming to pick the right for you and your needs. Some are better suited for basic work tasks, for example, while some of the higher-end models can even rival some of the best laptops you can buy. Moreover, just because one Chromebook has more features than the other doesn’t mean it’s the right one for you or the best value for your money.

That’s why we’ve curated this comprehensive list of the best Chromebook deals. Each varies in price and comes with its own strengths and weaknesses, but all of them come recommended for one reason or another. And if you’d like to do even more research before buying a Chromebook, we’ve also compiled a guide to the best options on the market, which you can use to help you determine which ChromeOS machine is right for you.

Be aware, though, that Black Friday is rapidly approaching, so we’re very likely to see some even more stellar deals. Be sure to check out our main early Black Friday deals post where we’ll keep you updated.

Best Laptop 2023: Lenovo Chromebook Duet 3

Lenovo Chromebook Duet 3

If you’re on a budget, our top pick is the new 11-inch Lenovo Chromebook Duet 3. The portable 2-in-1 device is a great Chromebook, with a comfortable, detachable keyboard, a foldable kickstand, and support for USI styluses (though it doesn’t come with one). What we found particularly stood out, though, was how lightweight it is at just 2.09 pounds, so you can easily take it while on the go.

However, there are some tradeoffs. Heavy multitasking slows the Chromebook down so this Chromebook is not particularly great for advanced tasks. There are only two ports, as well, with no headphone jack included. Nevertheless, it’s still a good, portable Chromebook for light work and entertainment. Regularly $369.99, right now you can buy the Duet 3 with 4GB of RAM, 64GB of eMMc storage, and a Snapdragon 7c Gen 2 processor for $244.99 when you use the code IDEABFNOW at checkout. Lenovo Chromebook Duet

Our former budget-friendly top pick, the 10.1-inch Lenovo Chromebook Duet, is the Duet 3’s predecessor from 2020. While it’s older, it’s still a good portable device with a detachable keyboard. It also offers excellent battery life and we were able to use it for 11 and a half hours while making Zoom calls and running through a variety of tabs and apps, including Gmail, Slack, and Facebook.

Of course, it’s got its weaknesses. This includes the Duet’s small keyboard, its single USB-C port, and – like the Duet 3 – its lack of a headphone jack. With its MediaTek Helio P60T processor, 4GB of RAM, and up to 128GB of storage, it’s also not necessarily great for more advanced tasks like the Duet 3 either. However, it’s fine for browsing and everyday work and, at the moment, incredibly affordable at just $189 at Best Buy instead of $299, which is a record-low price. Read our review.

Best Chromebook 2023: Lenovo Flex 5 Chromebook

Lenovo Flex 5 Chromebook

The Lenovo Flex 5 — the best Chromebook for midrange shoppers — may typically retail around $400, but it still looks and feels far more premium. It features a sleek, backlight keyboard that’s one of the better ones we’ve used on a Chromebook, along with a physical webcam shutter, front-facing speakers, and a relatively good port selection (for the price) that includes a microSD reader and a USB-C port on each side. The Flex 5’s audio quality and battery life aren’t great, however, with the latter only providing about five and a half hours of runtime when we tested it.

The Flex 5 is on sale with an Intel Celeron N5205U processor, 4GB of RAM, and 64GB of storage for $265.83 instead of $379.99 at Amazon, which is close to its best price yet. Read our review.

The Lenovo Flex 5 Chromebook is a great package at an affordable price, with a backlit keyboard that’s one of the better ones we’ve used on a Chromebook.

Best Chromebook 2023: Samsung Galaxy Chromebook 2

Samsung Galaxy Chromebook 2

If you’re considering a Chromebook, Samsung’s Galaxy Chromebook 2 is one of the best Chromebooks on the market right now. It’s the first Chromebook to feature a QLED panel —allowing for vivid colors and high contrast — and it offers better battery life than the convertible’s predecessor, which couldn’t even make it five hours on a charge. Admittedly, we weren’t fans of the Chromebook 2’s plasticky feel or its expensive price tag, but we were happy with the Chromebook overall and liked the red model’s bright, vibrant design.

At the moment, the base model is on sale at Amazon with an Intel Celeron processor, 4GB of RAM, and 64GB of eMMC storage for $419 instead of $549.99. You can also buy it with an Intel Core i3 processor, 8GB of RAM, and 128GB of storage for $549 instead of $699.99 from Amazon. Read our review.

The Galaxy Chromebook 2 is Samsung’s flagship Chromebook, one that is less expensive and improves on its predecessor with better battery life, a good QLED display, and a vibrant design.

HP Chromebook X2 11

We’ll be frank: we weren’t the biggest fans of HP’s Chromebook X2 11. We found its performance to be choppy, at least in our testing, and the detachable keyboard felt cramped and awkward when used in our lap. However, we do think it’s a decent buy if you can get it on sale. The X2 11 comes with a USI stylus in the box and offers a 3:2 aspect ratio display. The dimensions and aspect ratio make the Chromebook X2 11 useful for hand-held use, with a shape that closely resembles Apple’s iPad. The tablet’s 1440p resolution and built-in fingerprint scanner are also nice bonuses, the latter of which makes it easy to log in.

Again, this isn’t our favorite Chromebook, and it doesn’t offer great value for your money at the detachable’s typical price of $600. However, HP is currently running a promotion that makes it worth a look. Right now, you can buy the X2 11 with 8GB of RAM, 128GB of storage, and a Snapdragon 7c Gen 1 processor for $449.99 instead of $679.99. Read our review.
