Right now, the only device out there I can unequivocally sponsor is the new Nexus 7, all of Apple’s offerings are close to a year old, HTC and Samsung’s top devices are four months old, and Sony, Motorola and LG all have new devices out there, but they are not for everyone. The Apple world is even worse right now.

DISH bets on 5G by making its own $280 5G phone for Boost Mobile

DISH and Boost Mobile hope to bring in new 5G customers with their own phone, the Celero5G. DISH/Boost Mobile. The satellite television provider is introducing an exclusive budget 5G phone for Boost Mobile’s prepaid customers. The Celero5G is a “custom-built phone” for Boost Mobile, according to its spokesperson.

Some thoughts on this week’s Google Nexus event

The new 4G LTE Nexus 7 comes stocked with AT&T, T-Mobile and Verizon bands, which is a big improvement over previous devices which were either HSPA+ and agnostic, or carrier specific.
