One offering in particular that Williams calls out is Amazon Aurora, a MySQL-compatible offering that has automatic storage scaling, read replicas, continuous incremental backups to S3, and 6-way replication across availability zones. SOA—or, dare I say, microservices—is the next step on scaling the application.
