At DevOps Networking Forum 2016, I had the opportunity to share a presentation on some Linux networking options. I recently came across a couple useful troubleshooting guides, one for Open vSwitch (OVS) and OpenStack Neutron and one for VMware NSX. Have fun reading! Networking. It’s a pretty interesting read, in my opinion.

Anthony Shaw has a good comparison of Ansible, StackStorm, and Salt (with a particular view at applicability in a networking context). John Welsh has a post on why someone might use VMware NSX. Here’s a quick post on nftables , the (eventual) Linux replacement for iptables. Check out the GitHub repository. Virtualization.

Of course, I’ve never installed K8s and other than knowing Alex Ellis , the leader of the open source project for OpenFaaS, I don’t know the first thing about running functions on containers. Oh, did I forget to mention, other than installing Linux, I really shouldn’t be left to my own devices with a Linux console.

Cumulus VX, if you aren’t aware, is a community-supported virtual appliance version of Cumulus Linux aimed at helping folks preview and test “full-blown” Cumulus Linux (which, of course, requires compatible hardware). Dwayne Sinclair (an NSX SE at VMware) has a write-up on what micro-segmentation is not.
