As part of my Linux migration (see my initial progress report ), late this past week I started setting up my first non-Apple laptop since 2003. In this post, I’d like to share my thoughts on my new laptop, a Dell Latitude E7370. From a comparison perspective, I’d say it’s on par with my son’s 11” MacBook Air. 16 GB of RAM.

WSL, which is the part of Windows that lets you run Linux. That’s in comparison to the very controversial 30 percent that Apple charges. The new terminal, and the fact that now we even support the full Linux UI on Windows. Linux is now first class on Windows, and Android is just another subsystem. Last question.

Servers/Hardware. Dell is buying EMC. Speaking of metadata services, have a look at this comparison of metadata services (which compares DigitalOcean, Amazon, and Google, but not OpenStack). What—you hadn’t heard? I like the idea, but I’d like it even more if Rancher (the company) pushed this beyond only Rancher’s products.
