I asked the question earlier how does NSX bring value to the enterprise. You can save money if you consolidate your Windows & Linux workloads to fewer servers. The Second are is the higher level layers such as load balancing. Martin started out pretty well, talking about the value proposition of NSX.

The current GSA applications look like stovepipes that often implement replicated services using different technologies and solutions (different RDMS solutions, different load balancers, duplicate identity/access management solutions). This solution uses tools like Consul, Jenkins, Docker & Docker Swarm, HAProxy, Chef, and AWS.

The problem is that often the VM management tools aren’t able to scale up to the size of enterprise operations. Generally we draw lines between various disciplines based on what they do: the Unix team, the Windows team, the storage guys, the network guys, etc. Problem: Troubleshooting. Problem: Silos.
