Microsoft appears to be testing a new type of ad inside File Explorer on Windows 11. Microsoft MVP and Twitter user Florian Beaubois discovered an ad in the latest test build of Windows 11, prompting users to check out the Microsoft Editor. While the ads might have appeared for some Windows 11 users, Microsoft says it was a mistake.

Every piece of hardware worked perfectly out of the box—wireless, touchpad, touch screen, USB-C/Thunderbolt docking station, etc. Cloud storage/sync: Dropbox works fine, although the UI integration could be much better. I also maintain a Windows 10 VM with corporate VPN connectivity for other issues I can’t resolve using Linux.

Chromebooks can cover a wide variety of computing needs now, and a good Chromebook can be more useful than a mediocre Windows laptop. It pulls off that trick by minimizing the bezels around the screen, which is the same thing the best Windows laptops have been doing lately. It has the same ports, RAM, and storage.
