The best laptop under $1,000 This year’s HP Envy x360 is a big deal. Traditionally, the Envy line has been HP’s midrange option; it’s a rung above the budget Pavilion, but a rung below the flagship Spectre. The system did not prove as well-optimized for video editing, unfortunately. It’s impressive stuff for integrated graphics.

The G8 looks like a high-end Windows machine, and it’s easy to see where it fits in HP’s catalog next to the dashing Spectre X360. It has a generously sized Windows Precision trackpad, and its keyboard is just as delightful to type on as some of HP’s other recent models we’ve reviewed. There’s an HDMI 2.1

This is the HP Spectre x360 16. | HP makes some of the most gorgeous laptops you can buy, and its Spectre line is the most beautiful of them all. The Spectre x360 16, starting at $1,639, is the first 16-inch laptop to include an “integrated, intelligent” 5MP webcam, HP claims. That’s the idea, at least. But that’s not all.

Both have been upgraded to 11th-Gen Intel processors and DDR4 memory — HP tells me they’re aimed at “mobile users who loved Dragonfly, but want an even faster and smarter device”. There are some new smart features including AI noise reduction for video calls, and new security features like a tamper lock.

Kano is releasing a second-generation model of its buildable Windows 10 PC, which keeps the $299.99 And like the original version released last year, the second-gen Kano PC was developed in partnership with Microsoft and runs full Windows 10. There’s also a new optional subscription layer, Kano Club , which costs $4.99
