Alaska Airlines’ new iPad-based bag tag stations will let passengers scan their boarding passes rather than manually enter codes. For example, the iPad-based bag tag stations will also scan the barcodes on paper boarding passes. Currently, about 70% of passengers check in beforehand. Alaska wants to get that close to 100%.

The idea is that a train running on an air-bearing suspension system will ferry passengers from Los Angeles to San Francisco. The total distance from start to finish is a whopping 350 miles, and the capsules holding people will be traveling around 700 mph. I believe this train has a great chance for success.
